Easily Find the Serial Number of your Computer

You’ve got a problem with your computer, you call their technical support team and the person on the other side requires the machine’s serial number (also known as the Service Tag) before he can even log your request.

If you using a laptop computer, you can easily find the service tag by turning the machine upside but for desktops, especially the older models, the sticker that holds the service tag is often placed at a more harder-to-reach location.
There’s a alternate way to find the computer’s serial number without you having to slide beneath the table.
Open the command prompt (Start – > CMD) and type the following command:
wmic bios get serialnumber
Another command that will also print the model number (or make) of your computer is:
wmic csproduct get name, identifyingnumber
The system model number can also be found using the System Information program available under All Programs – > Accessories – > System Tools.
The above commands should work on Windows 7, XP and Windows XP Pro machine as wmic.exe didn’t ship with the previous editions of Windows. Refer to this page to learn about all other system details that you can retrieve with the help of wmic.exe command.

Download your YouTube Videos in their Original Resolution

While there are quite a few software tools and apps available that let you download videos from YouTube for offline watching, you don’t really need them anymore if you are looking to download your own videos from the YouTube website.
The easiest way to download an individual YouTube video click is through the Video Manager. Click the Edit button next to a video that you wish to download (see screenshot) and choose “Download MP4″ from the dropdown.

Download your YouTube Videos, legally
This method has been around for a while now but the one big limitation is that the quality of the downloaded videos isn’t the same as your original clips. Your 720p and 1080p HD video will be saved at 480p.
If this lone limitation has been keeping you from hosting any of your videos on YouTube, worry no more. You now have an option to download all your YouTube videos in their original resolution. Here’s how:
  1. Go to google.com/takeout and click the Create Archive button. Google will now create a zipped archived with all the videos that you have ever uploaded to YouTube.
  2. Once the archive says 100%, proceed to the Downloads tab to grab the actual files. If the archive is large, Google Takeout will split them into individual files of 2 GB each.

The downside is that you have to download the entire archives – there’s no option to download individual video in high resolution.
That said, if you are planning to copy videos from YouTube to Vimeo or another video hosting service but don’t have access to the source video files, you’ll find this new option extremely handy.

Find the Creation Date of your Google Account

If your Google account ever gets hacked or if you are unable to get into your Gmail account because you no longer have access to your mobile phone number or alternate email address, Google will require you to answer a few security questions before restoring your account.
These questions include:
  1. What was the last password you used to sign-in to your Google Account?
  2. When was the last time you were able to sign in to your Google Account?
  3. When did you create your Google Account?
All these questions are required and if you are not sure about the exact dates, Google says that you can provide your “best estimate.”
It is therefore recommended that you make a note of Google account creation date at a safe place but where you do get this information from? One option is that you open your Gmail mailbox, switch to All messages and note the timestamp of the welcome message from Gmail.

When did you create your Gmail account?

When did I create the Google Account?

In case you have deleted that email message, here is how you can easily find out the date when you created you Google / Gmail account.
  1. Go to google.com/takeout and sign-in with your current Google Account.
  2. Now click the link that says “Transfer your Google+ connections to another account”
  3. Google will once again require your account password. Sign-in and on the next screen you’ll see you Google Account creation as shown in the above screenshot.
This is one important piece of information that will be required for recovering your lost Gmail account.

HootSuite: Automatically post RSS Feeds to Google+, Twitter and Facebook

While it is still possible to largely ignore social networking sites as a webmaster, it is already becoming apparent that webmasters without a social marketing strategy will eventually fall behind webmasters who use these new sources of traffic and engagement. What more, it is likely that Google will continue to push its Google+ service, and one of the fallouts from this will be a deeper integration into the company’s ranking algorithm.
Manual updates and posts are ideal when it comes to posting on social networking site, not only for engagement but also to make sure that readers who are subscribed to a site’s RSS feed do not read the same message on social networking sites they follow it on repeatedly.
Sometimes though you simply may not have the time to post manually to the important social networking sites, and that’s when automated posting solutions may come into play.
Hootsuite for the most part if a commercial service that allows webmasters to monitor social networking traffic. One of its features is the option to automate postings on social networking sites such as Google+, Twitter or Facebook, and that’s what this guide is about.
First thing that you need to do is create an account over at Hootsuite and add at least one social networking account to it. The service supports the following sites:
  • Twitter
  • Facebook
  • Google+ (only pages)
  • LinkedIn
  • Foursquare
  • WordPress
  • MySpace
  • Mixi
add social network
Once you have added at least one social networking account, you see each account listed in its own tab in the Hootsuite web interface. Locate the publisher link on the left sidebar and select RSS Feeds from the available options there.
post rss google plus
To add a new RSS Feed simply click on the plus icon in the interface and fill out the configuration form that opens up. You need to select the social networking profile that you want to post on and the feed url that you want to use for the automated posting of messages. A maximum of one post is posted to the selected social networking site which you can change in the options to up to five posts in hourly intervals. Once that is done the service will automatically post to the social networking profile.
The majority of features that the site offers, scheduled posting and statistics, are not available for free users of the service.
You can remove social networking sites from Hootsuite under members in your main dashboard. When you do that, you may still need to revoke access on the social networking site as well (this was for instance the case for Twitter).
Hootsuite is excellent if you are looking for a free service that allows you to post RSS Feeds automatically to popular social networking sites.

SUBSCRIBE TO YOUR FAVORITE FACEBOOK PAGE VIA RSS

Do you want to keep up with the latest news for your favorite Facebook fan pages, but don’t want to miss out on them because EdgeRank is hiding them from your new feed? Or would you prefer to not have to go to Facebook at all until your favorite pages have updates?
One of the Google Chrome extensions I use, RSS Subscription Extension, puts an RSS icon in the browser’s address bar when there is an RSS feed discovered on a page. On Facebook pages that haven’t been converted to the new Timeline design, that icon comes up so you can subscribe to your favorite page’s RSS feed.
For pages with the new design enabled, however, the RSS feed has gone missing.
Fortunately, the feed is still available though. You just need a little workaround. To get any page’s RSS feed, first you will need to grab the page’s ID number. For pages that do not have a customized username (http://facebook.com/username), the ID number will be at the end of the URL. For those pages that have a customized username, the quickest way to grab the ID is through the Open Graph. Simply take the page’s username and add it to the following URL.
https://graph.facebook.com/username
For example, my Facebook page URL is http://facebook.com/kristihinespage. Hence, the Open Graph URL would be https://graph.facebook.com/kristihinespage. This will show you the following.
Highlighted in the above is my page’s ID number, 255576081168962. To create the RSS feed, take the page ID number and insert it in the following.
https://www.facebook.com/feeds/page.php?id=255576081168962&format=rss20
Take this URL and paste it into your preferred RSS reader. Mine is Google Reader, so I would paste it in to the Subscribe field.
Now, you can see your favorite page’s updates all in your RSS reader.
With Google Reader, you can even gain some insight into how many times a page posts per week on average.
I’m not sure how accurate that really is, but you might find it insightful sometimes. My page shows an average of six posts a week when lately I have only done one to two per week. Mashable’s page, on the other hand, shows an average of 120 post per week and 23 subscriber’s to their page’s RSS feed.

Do NOT ever want to cheat in this site, or you’ll get banned! I suggest you to read the terms of the site carefully in order to familiar with the site.
